Another sizzling hot summer of music will be hitting our shores in January with Greenstone Entertainment announcing its line-up of four international acts for the annual Summer Concert Tour. SUPERTRAMP’S Roger Hodgson, legendary singer-songwriter, will perform all his SUPERTRAMP songs from the 70’s and 80’s, with a set list that we all know and love, including “Dreamer”, “Give A Little Bit”, “It’s Raining Again”, “Breakfast in America”, “Take The Long Way Home”, “The Logical Song”and more.
James Reyne (AUSTRALIAN CRAWL) and Mark Seymour (HUNTERS & COLLECTORS), will be playing classics from AUSTRALIAN CRAWL, HUNTERS & COLLECTORS, and each of their solo works. As founding members and ex lead singers of HUNTERS & COLLECTORS and AUSTRALIAN CRAWL, Mark and James are teaming up for the first time in New Zealand to rock concert goers with some of their iconic hits from the 80’s and 90’s including “Holy Grail”, “Throw Your Arms Around Me”, “Reckless” and “Downhearted” to name just a few.

Completing the amazing international line up will be the unmistakable and powerful voice of Toni Childs, who again is sure to have everyone singing along to her Top 40 hits from the late 80’s early 90’s including “Don’t Walk Away”, Stop Your Fussin”and “I’ve Got To Go Now ”.
With its unique afternoon atmosphere the concerts will be returning to the idyllic holiday locations of Queenstown, Taupo and Whitianga – hot on the tails of the 2018 tour which was a record sell-out and saw audiences of 48,000 across the three shows.

Amanda Calvert, CEO of Greenstone Entertainment says, “The team at Greenstone are really looking forward to hosting the annual Summer Concert Tour for yet another year at some of the best outdoor venues throughout the country. We are truly excited to bring such a talented array of artists and can’t wait to share this experience with you. Our philosophy is to provide a great day out and value for money to the fans, with ticket prices starting from only $99, free entry to kids 14 and under with an accompanying adult, and concert goers are welcome to bring along their own food and non-alcoholic beverages. With a massive list of hit songs in their repertoires, these legendary acts are sure to get everyone on their feet for another great Summer Concert Tour in January.”

Roger Hodgson
Hodgson co-founded the progressive rock band Supertramp in 1969. As the legendary voice, writer and arranger of most of Supertramp’s greatest hits, that led to more than 60 million record sales, he’s given us amazingly enduring songs such as “The Logical Song,” “Breakfast in America,” “Give a Little Bit,” “Take the Long Way Home,” “Dreamer,” “It’s Raining Again,” “School,” and so many others that have become the sound track of our lives. Supertramp’s albums have spent an amazing 402 weeks in the New Zealand Top 40 album charts with Breakfast In America, Paris and The Very Best of Supertramp all peaking at No. 1, with Crime Of Century featuring in the Top 30 albums of all time.

James Reyne
James Reyne, formerly of Australian Crawl, released four studio albums in five frenetic years in the ’80s before becoming a solo artist for the past 28 years, releasing eight studio albums, plus two acoustic collections, a covers album and two live albums. James’ songs have provided the soundtrack to endless kiwi summers, including “The Boys Light Up”, “Reckless”, “Downhearted” and “Motor’s Too Fast”. James’ songs have been covered by Paul Kelly and John Farnham, and he’s had 19 Top 40 hits (seven with Australian Crawl, 12 solo) along with 10 Top 10 albums in Australia and was awarded the Order Of Australia in 2014 recognising his charitable work.
Mark Seymour
In 1981, Seymour formed Hunters & Collectors and was front man and songwriter until their split in 1998. He wrote the anthem “Holy Grail”, which along with other hit songs including “Do You See What I See” and “Throw Your Arms Around Me”, were just three of fifteen songs that featured in the New Zealand Top 40 singles charts. In 1997, whilst still officially part of Hunters & Collectors he released his debut solo album King Without A Clue, which earned him a nomination in the ARIA Music Awards of 1998 for Best Male Artist, as well as Best Debut Single with Last Ditch Cabaret. At the ARIA Music Awards in 2001 he won Best Adult Contemporary Album for One Eyed Man.

Toni Childs
When Toni Childs first burst onto the music scene in 1988, her unique, powerful voice set her far apart from other singers. Though what established her as more than just an iconic voice was her powerful song writing. It was honest and revealing and it resonated with both men and women around the world. Her NZ Top 40 singles hits include the unmistakeable “Don’t Walk Away”, “Stop Your Fussin” and “Many Rivers To Cross”. Toni’s album ‘Union’ received two Grammy nominations and platinum sales around the world. Toni’s second LP, ‘House Of Hope’ had a song featured in the classic film Thelma and Louise and the track “I’ve Got To Go Now”became an anthem for victims of domestic abuse around the world. Her 1996 LP, recorded at Peter Gabriel’s Real World Studios, ‘The Woman’s Boat’ earned Toni her third Grammy nomination. The coming years will see the wider release of two more albums; ‘It’s All a Beautiful Noise’ and ‘Citizens Of The Planet’, both releases will offer experiences that are aimed to entertain, educate and enlighten.

After an 18,000 strong sell-out crowd in Queenstown last weekend, the annual Summer Concert Tour today moved onto its next sold out show when 15,000 fans descended on Taupo Amphitheatre for the 7th year of the Taupo Summer Concert.

Hot and sunny summer conditions greeted international acts Colin Hay of Men At Work fame, Alanis Morissette and The Orchestra starring former members of Electric Light Orchestra as they played the second of three shows in the tour.

Providing the opportunity for local New Zealand artists to perform to audiences of this scale, organisers this year offered the opening set of the day to Paul Foulds as concert goers set themselves up for the day with their rugs, chilly bins and sunscreen.

For the first time, a fourth international act were added to this year’s Summer Concert Tour line up. Nashville based Fairground Saints brought to the Taupo concert goers their unique California country sound.

With the picturesque back drop of the Waikato River in the background, Colin Hay of Men At Work fame was next to take to stage early afternoon and wowed concert goers with his unmistakable hits , entertaining them with songs including Who Can It Be Now , Down Under and Be Good Johnny.

Next up was Alanis Morissette. Touring New Zealand for the first time in 20 years, she captured the audience mid-afternoon with hits from her No. 1 selling album, Jagged Little Pill, getting the crowd singing along to the likes of You Oughta Know, Hand In My Pocket and Ironic.

The Orchestra starring former members of Electric Light Orchestra, performing their incredible stable of ELO hits such as Mr Blue Sky, Evil Woman, Livin’ Thing, Telephone Line and Sweet Talkin’ Woman, promised to be an amazing end to the day when everyone will be on their feet for Don’t Bring Me Down.

Amanda Calvert, CEO of Greenstone Entertainment comments, “Two Saturday’s and two sell-out shows, we can’t thank all the fans enough for coming along to support these fantastic artists who make the long journey to New Zealand to share their first class talent with us all. We now move onto the final sold out show of the tour in the amazing Whitianga.”

This year’s line-up has proved to be hugely popular with all three concerts in the tour selling out only a month after going on sale last year, and while tomorrows Whitianga Summer Concerts is sold out, Greenstone Entertainment remind concert goers of a ticket exchange forum available on Facebook:

This year’s line-up has proved to be hugely popular with all three concerts in the tour selling out only a month after going on sale last year. Setting the scene for the Queenstown crowd in great concert weather, (warm and sunny), local artists The Cellar Doors took stage mid-morning delivering what would be a total of five incredible acts over the course of the afternoon with a chilled out atmosphere of picnic rugs and hampers, along with the incredible background of the Crown Range beyond.

For the first time, a fourth international act were added to this year’s Summer Concert Tour line up. Nashville based Fairground Saints brought to concert goers their unique California country sound.
